San Felipe del Progreso is a municipality in the State of Mexico, Mexico; It is located to the northwest, between 19°43′ north latitude, 99°57′ west longitude. It limits to the north with Tlalpujahua, State of Michoacán, El Oro and Jocotitlán, municipalities of the State of Mexico; to the south with Villa de Allende, Villa Victoria and Almoloya de Juárez, Municipalities of the State of Mexico; to the east with Ixtlahuaca and to the west with San José del Rincón. The distance between San Felipe del Progreso and Toluca – the capital of the state of Mexico – is 56 kilometers if you travel through the Ixtlahuaca road, and 72 if you travel through the Atlacomulco road. The municipal seat bears the same name as the municipality. It was declared a Charming Town by the Government of the State of Mexico, on September 6, 2021.

San Felipe del Progreso es un municipio del Estado de México, México; se localiza al noroeste, entre los 19°43′ de latitud norte, 99°57′ de longitud oeste. Limita al norte con Tlalpujahua, Estado de Michoacán, El Oro y Jocotitlán, municipios del Estado de México; al sur con Villa de Allende, Villa Victoria y Almoloya de Juárez, Municipios del Estado de México; al oriente con Ixtlahuaca y al poniente con San José del Rincón. La distancia entre San Felipe del Progreso y Toluca –la capital del estado de México– es de 56 kilómetros si se transita por la vía Ixtlahuaca, y 72 si se transita por la vía Atlacomulco. La cabecera municipal lleva el mismo nombre del municipio.

Atlacomulco is the Municipality named and ho,e to the municipal headquarters. Formerly the Mazahuas named it Ambaro which means “Colored Stone”, but with the domination of the Nahuas, they changed the name to Atlacomulco, composed of Atlacomulli, well; and co, en, which means “In the Wells.”
With the arrival of the Spanish, the name of the Patron Saint was added to the name of the town, leaving it as Santa María Atlacomulco.
The municipality of Atlacomulco is located in the Northwest of the State of Mexico.
It borders to the North with the municipality of Acambay, to the Northeast with the municipality of Timilpan, to the South with the municipality of Jocotitlán, to the East with the municipality of Morelos and to the West with the municipality of Temascalcingo.

Atlacomulco nombre del Municipio y Cabecera Municipal. Antiguamente los mazahuas lo nombraron Ambaro que significa “Piedra Colorada”, pero con la dominación de los nahuas, estos le cambiaron el nombre por el de Atlacomulco, compuesto de Atlacomulli, pozo; y co, en, que quiere decir “En los Pozos”.
Con la llegada de los españoles al nombre del poblado se le agrega el del Santo Patrono, quedando como Santa María Atlacomulco.
El municipio de Atlacomulco se localiza en el Noroeste del Estado de México.
Colinda al Norte con el municipio de Acambay, al Noreste con el municipio de Timilpan, al Sur con el municipio de Jocotitlán, al Este con el municipio de Morelos y al Oeste con el municipio de Temascalcingo.
